Information for Schools
Many schools face the problem of presenting important information to parents in a way that compels them to read or pay attention. There have been numerous studies to prove that the addition of color, graphics and images to a document or presentation increases interest and retains attention longer. The challenge that schools and businesses alike face is the cost associated with the addition of color or graphics to their documents. These costs are not feasible for most schools or businesses resulting in poorly produced, colorless and scaled back literature that fails to be read.
For the schools this project will upgrade the way news and information is sent out making the message more effective. For suitable advertisers this is a marketing approach that will allow them to reach a targeted audience without having to pay the high distribution costs often associated with typical advertising vehicles such as newspapers (high inserting costs), cable (cost of frequency needed to produce results) or direct mail (high postage cost). As this proposal will later explain in detail the goal is to divide the overall cost of designing and printing the magazine among suitable advertisers with no cost to the schools!
myMagazine Content Specifications
Though your school has control over content, we suggest the following: your publication should be a hybrid of both magazine and newsletter. District pages should be magazine oriented. These pages should focus on things that affect the district as a whole (Character of the month, outstanding staff members, changes in policies etc.) The individual school pages should be newsletter oriented (Short, easy to read bits of information). These pages should be used much like the Thursday folder and typical newsletter content. Use your pages to focus on student achievements, inform parents of upcoming events, fundraisers, opportunities to join the PTO etc.
